Which iPad screenshot sizes are required?
If your app runs on iPad, you need at least one 13" iPad screenshot. Smaller iPads get scaled versions.
| Display class | Pixel sizes (portrait) | Devices | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPad 13" display | 2064 × 2752, 2048 × 2732 | iPad Pro (M5, M4; 3rd–6th gen, 1st gen), iPad Air (M4, M3, M2) | Required if the app runs on iPad |

What are the Google Play screenshot requirements?
Google Play checks proportions rather than one exact size. Any image within the limits below is accepted, but the 9:16 recommendation decides whether you can be featured.
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Format | JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha) |
| Shortest side | at least 320px |
| Longest side | at most 3,840px (phones) |
| Aspect ratio | long side ≤ 2 × short side |
| How many | minimum 2 across device types to publish; up to 8 per device type |
| Recommended for featuring (apps) | at least 4 screenshots, 1080px minimum: 9:16 portrait (1080 × 1920+) or 16:9 landscape (1920 × 1080+) |
| Tablets & Chromebooks | at least 4, between 1,080 and 7,680px, 16:9 or 9:16 |
Common rejection: tall iPhone-shaped images such as 1242 × 2688 have a ratio of 2.16, so Google Play refuses them. Make a 9:16 copy (for example 1080 × 1920) with the checker above.
Can I use one screenshot size for every iPhone?
Yes, if your app's interface is the same across sizes. Upload the required Dynamic Island (medium) set and App Store Connect scales it for the other displays. You still need separate 13" iPad screenshots if you support iPad.
What file format should I use?
PNG or JPEG for both stores, flattened with no transparency. If a PNG export from a design tool is rejected for an "alpha channel", re-save it as JPEG or flatten it onto a solid background. The checker's download does this automatically.

FAQ
What is the required App Store screenshot size in 2026?
For iPhone apps, at least one screenshot for iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display): 1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556 pixels in portrait (or the landscape equivalents). iPad apps also need a 13-inch iPad screenshot: 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732.
Is 1290 × 2796 still accepted?
Yes. 1290 × 2796 is one of the accepted sizes for iPhone with Dynamic Island (large display), together with 1320 × 2868 and 1260 × 2736. It is optional; the required iPhone size is the Dynamic Island medium display.
How many screenshots can I upload?
App Store: 1 to 10 per device size and language. Google Play: up to 8 per device type, with at least 2 in total to publish.
Why does Google Play reject my screenshot?
Usually because the long side is more than twice the short side (for example 1242 × 2688), a side is over 3,840px, or the PNG has an alpha channel. Use a 9:16 size such as 1080 × 1920 and save as JPEG.
Do I need different screenshots for each language?
Not required, but both stores let you upload localized screenshots per language. In App Store Connect, a newly added language uses your primary-language screenshots until you upload its own.
